  • providing, ensuring, and maintaining the functionality of the website;
  • error detection and analysis for the purpose of identifying and preventing security incidents and misuse;
  • the individual, user-oriented presentation of content (including language selection DE/EN/FR);
  • the playback of embedded video/audio content and map material;

5. Legal Bases for Processing Your Data
  • Where we obtain the consent of the data subject for processing operations involving personal data, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR serves as the legal basis.
  • Where processing of personal data is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is party, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR serves as the legal basis; this also applies to processing required for pre-contractual measures.
  • Where processing is necessary to safeguard the legitimate interests of our company or a third party, and the interests, fundamental rights, and freedoms of the data subject do not override those interests, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR serves as the legal basis.

Legitimate interests in this sense include, in particular, the technically error-free and functional operation of our website, responding to inquiries, and the security of our network and data.

6. Recipients, Processors, and Hosting

This website is hosted by IONOS SE (server location: Germany). A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place, or is to be concluded, with the hosting provider [please confirm per the notice panel above, item 3].

We otherwise engage carefully selected service providers, in particular to deliver embedded content (see Section 9). Personal data is only disclosed to third parties to the extent necessary to provide the respective service or where permitted by law.

7. Usage Data / Server Log Files

Each time our website is accessed, our systems automatically collect data and information from the computer system of the accessing device: browser type and version, operating system used, referrer URL, host name of the accessing computer, time of the server request, and the IP address.

The legal basis for the temporary storage of this data and of the log files is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Storage is necessary to enable delivery of the website to the user’s computer and to ensure the functionality and security of our IT systems. The data is not evaluated for marketing purposes. The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required for the purpose for which it was collected; typically at the end of the respective session or in line with our applicable log-retention periods.

8. Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies and comparable storage technologies (e.g., local storage) on this website. Specifically, these are the following technically necessary or functional storage items:

In our assessment, these storage items do not require consent within the meaning of Section 25(2) No. 2 of the German Telecommunications-Telemedia Data Protection Act (TTDSG), as they serve exclusively the technical functionality of the website or a configuration you have actively chosen. You may nonetheless restrict the use of cookies at any time via your browser settings; this may, however, limit certain functions (e.g., the language selection may need to be made again on every visit).

9. Embedded Third-Party Content and Services

On individual subpages we embed content from external providers. When such a subpage is accessed, your IP address is necessarily transmitted to the respective provider, as otherwise it could not deliver the content to your browser. We have no influence over the further processing carried out by these providers; their own privacy policies apply.

Plyr (video/audio player)
To play video and audio content, we use the “Plyr” player, whose resources are delivered via the Fastly content delivery network (domain plyr.io). This may result in your IP address being transmitted to servers located outside the EU/EEA. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (functional display of embedded media content).

OpenStreetMap
On individual subpages we embed map material from the “OpenStreetMap” service (domain openstreetmap.org), operated by the OpenStreetMap Foundation. The OpenStreetMap Foundation is based in the United Kingdom; an adequacy decision by the European Commission covers transfers to the UK. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (display of location/map material).

Should we embed additional external content, analytics, or marketing services in the future that require prior consent (Section 25(1) TTDSG), we will implement a consent management tool and update this policy accordingly.

10. Contact Form and E-mail Contact

Our website provides a contact form that can be used for electronic inquiries. If you use this option, the data entered in the input form is transmitted to and stored by us. This data includes, e.g., name, e-mail address, phone number, and message; additionally, your IP address and the date and time of submission are recorded to prevent misuse of the form and to ensure the security of our IT systems.

Alternatively, you may contact us via the e-mail address provided. In this case, the personal data transmitted with the e-mail is stored. No data is disclosed to third parties in this context; the data is used exclusively to process your communication.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent through active submission) or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in responding to your inquiry); where the contact is aimed at concluding a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR additionally applies.

11. Job Applications

If you apply to us via our website or by e-mail, we process your application documents to carry out the application procedure on the basis of Section 26 of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and Art. 6(1)(b), and where applicable (a), GDPR. Your data will generally be deleted no later than six months after conclusion of the application procedure, unless you have consented to longer retention (e.g., for a talent pool).

12. Retention Period and Deletion

We delete or restrict your personal data as soon as the purpose of storage no longer applies, unless statutory retention obligations (e.g., commercial or tax-law retention periods of up to 10 years) apply. Backup copies we maintain to protect against data loss may still contain deleted data for the duration of their retention; they are not used in day-to-day operations.

13. Your Rights as a Data Subject

Subject to the applicable statutory requirements, you have the right to:

  • request confirmation and information about the personal data we process about you (Art. 15 GDPR);
  • request rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data (Art. 16 GDPR);
  • request erasure of your data, unless statutory retention obligations apply (Art. 17 GDPR);
  • request restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR);
  • receive your data in a commonly used, machine-readable format or have it transmitted to another controller (Art. 20 GDPR);
  • object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21 GDPR);
  • withdraw any consent given at any time with effect for the future, without any disadvantage to you (Art. 7(3) GDPR).

To exercise these rights, please contact us using the details provided in Sections 2 and 3 above.

14. Right to Lodge a Complaint with a Supervisory Authority

Without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedy, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State of your habitual residence, place of work, or place of the alleged infringement. The authority responsible for us is:

Landesbeauftragter für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Rheinland-Pfalz (State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, Rhineland-Palatinate, “LfDI RLP”)
